We had the best Christmas this year! My parents came out here to Roosevelt and we had a blast with them! It was so fun to have both sets of our parents all together for Christmas! Avery loved the extra company and someone to always play with. Eva did really well too and liked being played with by mom and dad. We had a wonderful Christmas Eve dinner at Brandon's parents house, and then came home to wait for Santa in the morning! Avery was so excited in the morning! She got a train set, all three toy story characters in stuffed animal form, and woody and bullseye which has been her fav so far! She has gone to bed and nap time with all of them too! Its so funny. She also got a baby doll, basketball hoop, and a bunch of other things!! SPOILED! We had a great time and I'm so glad my parents came out!

My best friend in the whole world Jenny stopped by for an overnight stay on the way out to see her parents for Thanksgiving. We had such a good time talking with her and her husband Sam on Saturday night after our kids went to bed. They have 3 cute kids and Beckett is thier baby who is 2 months older than Eva.

We had a great halloween! We dressed up the girls as matching skeletons and went trick or treating. Avery did pretty well considering she is only 2, she started to get the concept that each house we went to she would get more candy! She wanted to eat the candy as soon as she got it. She ate a ton of it and was on a sugar high til almost 10 pm, just talking and rolling around in bed! It was a good time!

Well I just have to say that I love being a mother of 2 awesome little girls!! I really really love having 2 kids and I think its so much more fun than 1! I miss just the one on one time with Avery and how easy it was to just take one kid somewhere and go, but having Eva with us is so much more fun and rewarding! Avery loves to play with her and include her in everything we do. Its fun to keep more busy with another child and having Avery help me with things. We went on the boat with our friends/neighbors and had a blast! We swam in the lake, and Avery loved jumping from the swim deck into the water to us! I tried to surf but couldn't get up, and Avery was crying hysterically because she thought I was getting hurt or something. We have just been trying to enjoy the last days of warmth while they last and playing outside as much as we can. On sunday I tried to get a cute picture of me and my daughters cause they were dressed up so cute but ONCE AGAIN Avery ruins the picture by crying for the camera! When will this end?!?! Seriously. And Eva is 3 1/2 months old and so so so cute and sweet!!

When my family was in town for Eva's blessing my brother and his family went with Avery and I to the rec center pool to swim. As any normal family, we wanted to take a few pictures.....well Avery has this camera obsession that is so annoying and so stupid! Here are the best ones we got at the pool. I really want to get family pictures done of us with our two daughters now, but not until she gets over this thing with cameras!

We blessed Eva on July 31st, it was so nice, and all our family was here for her day except my brother Richie couldn't make it. After church we had a waffle bar at our house full of sugary toppings for our awesome waffles! Super yummy and it was fun to have ALL the cousins from both Brandon's side and my side together! My brother Jeff and his family came too and it was so fun to spend time with them. Shelby who is 1, had fun swimming with Avery at the rec center on Saturday and kissing baby Eva. I loved having my family here! My mom is staying with me for the next couple weeks to help out and be with me, Brandon will be in and out of town for the next few weekends so that will be great to have her here as I am still adjusting to having two kids.

Avery turned two on July 24! Yay she is officially a toddler! She can say most words...her favorites being thunder cloud, firefighter truck, elmo, doctor, and many more!! She is so smart and she is just getting to be so much fun despite her terrible two tantrums! hahaha For her b-day we had all our family over for a bbq and even my parents were here too! Avery got a lot of books, a doll, a pop up toy, a radioflyer tricycle, wooden puzzle train and some other toys! Brandon and I got her a play kitchen and she loves it! She likes to pour us drinks from the coffee pot it came with and make us pie and pizza! Its so fun to see her have an imagination and play.

My parents came 2 weeks ago for a visit and to meet their new granddaughter, but before they got here my brother Richie and his fiance Katie came to see us.... and let me say Avery LOVES her Uncle Richie! She went and sat on his lap and gave him high fives and hugs right away and wasn't even timid. He took her out front to play in the water and was running around with her in the sprinkler. It was soooo cute and fun to see them play! I only got a couple pictures because Avery has this weird thing right now with cameras and if she see s one she HAS to have it and will scream bloody murder and cry forever so we try to aviod that fight. So I didn't get any pictures of my parents with her on my camera, I'll have to get them from dad later....but for now here are these.

Little Eva is doing so great! We think she is soooo cute and we love her so much especially Avery! She is always looking for "baby" as she calls her and she has to be with us at all times! Its so cute and I couldn't be happier that she loves having the new baby at home, since it was my biggest fear of having another baby! She has gained a full 2 pounds in her first 3 weeks of life- well almost a month now, but she is so healthy and eating great. She is very calm and is happy!

Eva B. Luke was born on June 17 at 3:40 AM, she weighed 6 lbs 4 oz and 18 1/4 inches long. My water broke at home the night of the 16th at 8 pm. I was just waiting for dinner to get out of the oven and was playing on the computer when all of a sudden it broke and I quietly shut down the computer and oven and thought "here we go" and called downstairs for Brandon. I had most of my bag packed for the hospital so we just pretty much left after his mom got here for the night. We had already put Avery to bed so it was an easy out for us. After getting checked in at the hospital and waiting to dilate more ( I was at a 4 when I went in) I got an epidural around 11 pm, and it was great! I thought wow one little needle poke isnt that bad compared to the amounts of pressure and pain that would get worse! So we just waited and tried to sleep a little. At about 3:15 I was feeling a ton of pressure and some sharp pains so I called for the nurse and she said I was ready to go. Then the doctor and nurses came in and got all set up and I was so excited to get this baby out because I had been in so much pain for months with the pregnancy- plus I was SO hungry, I was too nervous to eat dinner before we left. We pushed 3 times with each contraction- I pushed through 3 sets, so maybe 10 times total and at 3:40 am here came little Eva!! When I looked down and saw her I thought she was so tiny!! And she was, at only 6.4 lbs. They got her all cleaned up after I held her for a minute and then gave her back. We compared all her features to Avery and we think she is so cute!! Its so weird to think now we are a family of 4!!! CRAZY!!!

Wow the last part of this pregnancy has flown by! I am so nervous, anxious, excited, scared, happy, and clueless about having TWO kids!! I am ready to be done being pregnant because I am in so much pain everyday, all day! Ouch! My sciatic nerve is always pinched so that hurts 24/7, and if I eat anything more than a handful size I feel like I am going to throw up, and baby's feet are in my ribs so I wake up and night with them feeling like they are going to break. Therefore GET THIS BABY OUT! My appt was last Tuesday and I am dilated to a 2-3. My appt is this Wednesday the 15th so we will see if I have progressed anymore. Avery has been going into her room and looking in her crib and saying baby, baby. I try to talk it up for her to be a big sister all the time so hopefully she is ready too! It could be any day now so we are just waiting.......

Avery colored this poem for me in nursery on Sunday for Mothers Day. I read the poem and teared up so bad, I had to hold back letting out real tears!! I feel like this poem put everything in perspective for me as her mother. I have stressed out since the day she was born trying to do everything perfect and the best. Lately I have mellowed out a lot and haven't let things bother me as much and to know that she is just a little toddler and she is so curious about her world. She does things to learn and see what they do, not to make me mad. I have felt for almost 2 years now that I haven't enjoyed motherhood to the fullest because everything has been so hard and I've been so tired,and it wasn't how I "thought" it would be, or should be. I love Avery so much and the more patient and gentle I am with her the more I discover about the meaning of motherhood and what it means to be HER mom! She loves me no matter what, even if its not perfect to me, its perfect to her. I finally feel content with life and the whole change of life motherhood brings- at age 29. I really do love it and I can't wait for how good the future will be with my children!!!

No more jackets, hats, gloves, layers, being stuck inside, nothing to do in freezing temps! Even though Roosevelt gets SO insanely windy in the spring, it is so much better than below freezing dark temperatures!! We have played outside everyday since the weather has been nice! Stroller rides, popsicles, toys out front, the park, pinic lunch, Avery is in heaven! She loves to be outside and was loving her new clothes too!! Spin around little Ave and show them off...

1st Family Pizza and Movie Night

We have been looking forward to the day that Avery can sit still long enough to watch a movie- well part of a movie. She is way into Tinkerbell and we watch it like 2 times a day in between her playing. So we thought to try to have a family movie night and pizza! We rented Tangled and made a pizza, Averys favorite food right now. She did pretty well, sat still to start the mnovie and to eat but then wandered around playing with toys and coming back off and on to see parts of the movie. It was fun, and we actually got throuhg the enitre movie without having to stop it! We look forward to doing this more often!

23 Weeks

Here is a picture- 23 weeks. I feel pretty good overall. By this time with Avery I was having really bad sciatic pain, this time I have it a little but its not shooting pain like before so I am so glad for that. We had a party for my 29th birthday with was Feb. 25, Brandon, Avery and I went to the rec center to swim, then had lunch. After she was in bed we had a few friends over to eat and have cake and do some games. It was a great night.

Our V-day was pretty low key- we never really do anything special, but we always get eachother a little something. I got Brandon his favorite kinds of candies and a nice card, he washed my car for me and brought me back flowers and drumstick ice cream bars! My favorite thing is a clean car! I can't stand when my car is filthy, but living here, it always is covered in mud, salt, and snow crap. So that was an awesome gift for me!
We set out Avery's v-day basket on the coffee table so when she woke up from her nap she could play with it. We brought her out and she immediately starting ooooooo-ing for it and touching everything that was in it. She had m&m s for her candy and just some cheap trinket toys we found. We all sat on the couch playing with her and eating some candy. We stayed there for about a half hour! Which is record time for her since she never does anything longer than 2 minutes. We love her so much and she brings more joy and laughs and love to us each day she grows!

Christmas morning was perfect! Brandon and I got up before Avery so we could open ours without her clawing all over them- I gave Brandon a new Boston Red Sox winter jacket that he absolutly loved! A knife, a couple movies, and a few other things. My big thing was earrings and a braclet from Tiffany! I've never had any jewelry from there so I was really surprised! A ragnar relay sweatshirt that is totally hot looking on me! hahhaha, and a few other things. Then we got Avery out of her crib and let her walk out by herself. She saw all the presents and a few that had been set up and starting oooooooo-ing. She went right to the ball-pit and said ball and started playing. It was so funny because we would hand her a new toy to open or play with and she would hit it away and wanted to keep playing in the balls! We finally were able to get her out and have her open some more from Santa, and all the gifts my side of the family had sent to us. She really liked them all and showed interest in them. Then we went over to Brandon's parents house for breakfast and to do their gifts. It was nice to all be together over there and we had a great time! We scored an ipad! whoohoooo, some work out clothes, gift cards. Ave got a princess tent and tunnel she can play in and elmo slippers that she would wear all over, some clothes, a pillowpet, and some books. It was a really fun Christmas and I can't wait til next year when Avery is even MORE fun to surprise!! This year was so fun to anticipate what her reaction would be and what she would like, it was neat to shop for her. What a difference this year was compared to last year when she was only 5 months! It will just keep getting better! Merry Christmas everyone!

Here are just a few picures of our Christmas season so far. We decorated the first of December with Avery loving the lights and the tree and especially all the ornaments for it. To her, every ornament was a 'ball.' We took her to meet Santa and she loved that! She did last year too, but she didn't really care being only 5 months old. She kept pointing to him in line and going ooooooooooooo! Over and over again. I am so grateful to have my family, I love this holiday season and I couldn't be more thankful for our health and that we are all together. I love my family more than ever!

Big News

We are expecting our second baby the end of June! This will put new baby and Avery 23 months apart. We are hoping they will be best pals since they will be close in age. So far the pregnancy has been good other than all day/everyday nausea, but the medicine they make for it is a life saver! Especially with a little one to chase after, I can't just lay around with this one like I did with Ave when I wasn't feeling good. We hope to find out what the gender is soon and will keep you posted.

We spent 12 days in Phoenix for our Thanksgiving holiday. It was really nice to have a lot of time to spend there and not have to rush around and do things. For the most part we just relaxed and spent a lot of time at home with my family. One day we went to the SeaLife Aquarium, that was pretty fun! Ave enjoyed looking at a few fish and then wandering around looking for things she could get in trouble with. We spent Thanksgiving day at Grammys house in Scottsdale. She makes a wonderful thanksgiving meal that she prepares all herself and she is 88 years old! GO GRAMMY! And she and Avery have the same birthday- July 24, and she was telling Ave all about the Leo stuff! hahahhaha. Avery was more curious this time about Shelby, my brothers daughter who is 4 months old. She would give her gentle kisses and touch her eyes. It was so cute. We look forward to going back- hopefully in the spring or late winter!

My brother Richie's girlfriend got baptized on October 16 into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. It was such an emotional and spiritual baptism. Seeing Katie enter the water and having my brother baptize her was so special! She is such a sweet girl with an awesome countenance about her. She will do great work and be a wonderful example to those she will come in contact with. I was able to be there this past weekend for it and I'm so glad I was there to see it! I'm so blessed to have such a wonderful family, I love them all so much and I'm so happy that Richie and Katie will soon have an eternal marriage.

A pirates life for me!

We went to Disneyland this past week because I was registered to run the Disneyland Half Marathon. It was my 3rd time doing it and I LOVED it!! It was 13.1 miles through disneyland parks, the streets of Anahiem, through home plate of Angels stadium, and then back to Disney for the finish! It was awesome and I ran hard the whole way and felt like dying at the end. Brandon and Avery met me outside of our hotel ( which was right by disneyland where the start was) and cheered me on, and then waited for me at the finish line. It is one of the best races out there!

After I finished, we went back to our hotel and put Avery down for a nap. I stretched and showered and we got ready to head out to the parks for the day. It was one of the best vacations I've ever had! It was so fun to see little Ave's reaction to everything. She loved all the rides we were able to take her on! Even the dark rides like Pirates of the Carribean she loved! She would put her arm out like she wanted to touch everything. One of the funniest parts of the trip was when we saw Mickey. She has a Mickey doll at home so before the trip I would say go find Mickey so she would know what he looked like. At Disneyland we saw him and waited in line to get a picture. Avery was staring at him and making ooooooo noises the whole time in line. When it was our turn we set her down and Mickey knelt down to her level and I backed up to get a picture. She stared at him expressionless and then turned around and walked away! It was so funny!!! We spent 4 long days there and had a blast everyday and we were so thrilled that Avery liked it and wasn't scared of anything and didn't throw fits! It was the best to be there with my daughter and my husband! I hope to have many more vacations there in the future!

My brother and his wife just had their first baby and they blessed her on August 15. We were able to go down to Phoenix to be a part of it. She is so cute and the best baby! She sleeps ALL the time! I think somethings wrong with her......hahah, because Avery never slept all day like she does! Its so cute. Anyway, we were able to spend a lot of time together as a family and had a really good trip and was able to visit with our friends for a night out too! I love my family!!

Avery was invited to attend a birthday party our neighbors had for their 2 kids. They went all out, with a pool, slip n slides, water balloons, hot dogs, and cake! Avery loved to be around all the kids and try to participate in the big kid activites! It was a good time!

This morning I did my first triathlon! It was a sprint tri so it was a 1/6 mile swim, 13 miles bike, 3 mile run. I was all lined up ready for the first leg which is the swim at 5:45am. Surprisingly the swim was easy!! In practice I would take a couple breathing breaks at the wall, but not today! I swam the whole way. Then ran to the transition area to get ready for the bike, I put my shirt, shoes, ipod, and watch on and took off for the 13 mile ride. It was a very hilly ride and I thought it was so hard! I thought, if there is one more hill I'm gonna walk it! But I managed to push through and made it back to begin the run. My legs were soooo tired by now but I slowly adjusted to the running and did well! I have no idea what I placed or what my time was, it was just fun to try a new challenge rather than just running all the time. I think this will be something I will continue to try to get better at!! Go Triathloners!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1st Birthday!!!

Avery is 1 year old!! July 24 is her birthday and we were able to celebrate it yesterday with both sets of her grandparents and her Aunt Tracy and cousins. We had a bbq and then let her open presents. She did well with her gifts and she helped open most of them and see what each one was. A big hit that she really like was a gloworm that Uncle Jeff and Aunt Adriane sent up with my parents for her. She loved it! Next we all sang happy birhtday and let her have some cake. She didn't really like the taste of it but enjoyed mashing it all over her tray and clapping with it on her hands. It was so fun to see her reactions to it all!

A year ago I thought we would never get to this point in her life....I seriously thought I would be sitting on the couch every 2 hours with a bottle in her mouth and being exhausted FOREVER. I never thought she would walk or do much of anything! hahaha She has learned so much in her first year of life and has taught us as parents so much too. We are learning some of life's lessons that one can never experience or understand if you're not a parent. Its undescribable the love we feel for our child. Every night when I put her to bed, she lays her head on my shoulder and looks into my eyes and smiles, that means so much to me. She is changing so much and is beginning to love more and accept out hugs and kisses instead of pushing us away! :) I'm so happy at this time in my life, and I love that Avery knows and loves us for who we are even though we make mistakes as her parents. She is the best daughter we could get and she is so loved!!!!!

Our Romantic Getaway

Fun Rides! And kind of scary!

Brandon and I decided it was time for us to get away together for a night of fun! His parents were kind enough to stay at our house and take care of Avery. We packed up the car and headed for Salt Lake, we first went to Lagoon, an amusement park with some roller coasters and stuff. We stayed and played there for a few hours, then headed to the hotel to check in. We stayed at The Little America, in SLC, it was very nice!! We changed into our swimsuits and went to the pool and hot tub for a while. Then came back to the room to get all dressed up for dinner! I even wore earrings, I didn't have to worry about them getting ripped out by Avery. hahaha We went to PF Changs for a nice meal and then went to see a movie, which was a horrible show, but oh well! We had tons of fun anyway! In the morning we went out to breakfast and drove to the Salt Lake Temple to do a session, but they were CLOSED for maintanance or something. Crap! We wanted to get back home at a decent time so just decided to go home instead of going up to another temple. It was so much fun to get away and have no responsibily and stay out as late as we want and sleep in!! It was the best night! More pictures below on previous post!!!!!

My brother Jeff and his wife Adriane had their first baby on July 3, 2010! Shelby Lilla Gray, she was born at 8:54 pm and weighed 7lbs 3 oz, and was 20 3/4 inches long. What a cutie!! I can't to meet her! She is such a good baby for them! Jeff says she mostly sleeps through the night and that they have to wake her up every 4 hours at night to feed her!! How lucky are they! Swim Time!

Avery loves the water! When she was just two months old we had her in my parents pool when in visited Phoenix. When we were there in May we went swimming or splashed at the park almost everyday! I've taken her to the Roosevelt pool a couple times a week, but some days I don't feel like going...cause I have to get in a swimsuit too, so I bought her a little blow up pool to have in the yard! The thing she liked most about it was the water coming out of the hose. She splashed a little but wouldn't put the hose down, she just sat there and was fascinated by the water.

What else is new??? NOTHING! Some days it is just so boring here I can't think of anything to do to make time go by fast....OH! Adriane, my brother Jeff's wife is due to have a baby girl ANY day now! I wish I could be there to see their brand new baby the day she is born, but we will go out to AZ when she is blessed. Good luck new parents!!

Avery loves books! Whenever we play she always goes for a book instead of a toy. My dad said to always read to her everyday, even as a newborn, and thats what we have done on most days. Little Ave has started to take a few steps all by herself! She can walk really well holding onto our hands. She walks about 4-5 steps across furniture or to mom or dad. Also getting more daring too- sometimes she will just turn around from whatever she is holding onto and start walking to nothing, so we have to run over to catch her! So funny! I'm so excited for her to start walking, then she can follow me places around the house.....shes getting so heavy for me to carry all over the place! :)

So our little pride and joy Avery, NEVER cuddles! We are always so jealous when we see babies cuddling and sleeping on their mom or dad...we think oh how would that be. She doesn't transfer well either, like if she falls asleep in the car and we put her into her bed, she wakes up and won't go back to sleep. Whenever we try to hug her close she pushes away and pinches. She's been this way since the day she was born. She would scream and squirm to be put down, and when we would swaddle her as a newborn and lay her down she would sleep....and don't even get me started on how long it would take me at church to get her to fall asleep in my arms.

ANYWAY, so today was a really hard day because she was having some reflux issues and only took a HALF HOUR of a nap today and thats it!! So bedtime comes and I am DONE and can't wait for her to be in her crib. I start feeding her and rocking her and she starts squirming and wants to stand up......I almost lost it, but something came to mind to just pat her back.....I attempted to hug her and rub and pat her back to relax her.....and..... she actually laid her head on my shoulder! Unbelievable!!! This is the first time she has ever done this! THEN, she slowly looked up at me and put her mouth on my cheek for a kiss and then put her head back on my shoulder as I rubbed her back! I was so amazed and happy I started laughing cause it was so cute! She looked up again and gave me another kiss! WOW!! I was in heaven! It felt so good to have her hug me....all my hard work each and every day is starting to pay off with my little girl giving me a hug! I think that Heavenly Father knew I needed that because I was getting to the point of not wanting to nurture her anymore that day! :)

We have been here in Phoenix for much needed time away from Roosevelt since the 30th- Brandon went home in between to work for a week and comes back tomorrow. Avery and I have been having soooo much fun with Grandma, Grandpa, Uncle Jeff, Aunt Adri, Uncle Richie, and Katie, and FRIENDS! Avery loves it here, she has been swimming and splashing at the outdoor water fountain pad several times, shopping, eating out places, going to parks, had 2 carousel rides and a train ride, and much more! She has been smiling and clapping her hands all the time! She is so cute! I love being able to take her out and show her new things. Uncle Jeff graduates from ASU tomorrow with a bachelors degree in computer science engineering. Avery has been looking forward to his graduation! ahhhh not really- we will see how it goes with her! Here are a few Easter pictures of us. My parents were visiting us and they gave Avy an Easter basket, she was so curious about it and so fun to watch! We had a great time with them, it wasn't too hard to see them go, because we are coming to Phoenix in 3 weeks!! We are staying about 2 1/2 weeks! I can't wait! Palm trees, clear forever skies, the smell of flowers and citrus in the air, my swimming pool, places to go and eat! I could go on forever! Other big news is...we got our basement finally finished!!! Brandon has worked so hard on it since August. We have a huge tv/family room, huge play room and exercise area, large bedroom, and lots of closet space for storage. We have the bathroom plummed but we will finish that in month or two so we can save up some more money! I'll post before and after pics soon!

My best friend Jenny came to visit us on her way out to her mom and dads house. Jenny and her husband Sam live in Westminster Colorado, and they have 2 kids, Collin, 3 1/2 and Natalie, 1 1/2. Jenny and I met in elementary school and have stayed best friends ever since! She is like a sister to me and me to her, both of us have only brothers. We have shared many life experiences together and have been through some tough things that we have helped eachother get through. I really love her and she is such a great mom too! We took the kids to the park and her kids played and we put Avery in the swing for the first time! She really liked it!!

On February 25, I turned 28- yes 2 years away from 30! I can't believe that, I still feel like I'm only 23 or something! It was a good day. First thing in the morning Brandon and I woke up to Avery's squeals and screams, he told me happy birthday and gave me a card and a gift while we were still in bed. The card was so sweet and meaningful- then I opened the box and there was a pair of diamond earrings! They are so classic and pretty! In the evening, my in laws and our nieces and nephew came over to give me a present and Makell, our niece had made a cake for me. She did such a good job- oreos all over the place! She printed pictures of Avery and stuck them in the cake too. Very cute! It was fun to get cards in the mail too from my parents, friends, and Grandma Jean. Thanks everyone for a great day!

I tried to take more pictures of Avery, it is very difficult with a highly active 6 month old!! All she wanted to do was touch the camera, roll around, sit up and wiggle, and try to grab anything and everything around her! It was cute. I got a book that a friend told me about that teaches you about all the different settings, how to take good pictures, etc. I read some information, and tried different settings and lighting options my camera had. This was the best I could do....for now....

I was eating an apple and Avery kept grabbing for it so I let her taste it. She loved it and wanted more and wouldn't let me eat it! Silly girl! We also started feeding her real baby food now! Its so fun, so far we have just done peaches and pears. She seemed to like it ok, but wasn't used to it. She had her 6 month check up on Monday and she weighs 18 pounds and is 26 inches long. She is very active and loves new things and experiences. Oh, and she loves to be tickled and to laugh!

She has been able to sit all by herself for a couple weeks. She is so strong and so smart!

About 7 months ago Brandon and I decided to get a really nice camera to take nicer pictures of our own. We research and found that the Canon Rebel EOS would be best for our needs. I have a great intrest in photography and love the way you can learn to take great pics. Also since we have a baby now, we thought it would be so fun to capture great looking pics of her. Unfortunatly I am not very good yet. I will keep practicing, and study up on the manual some more!

The last race I ran was the PF Changs Rock n Roll Arizona Marathon in 2008. Well, a race I tried for, I forgot, I did do the disneyworld half marathon January of 09 when I was 11 weeks pregnant. I felt so sick and miserable I just ran because I had registered and wasn't expecting to get pregnant so fast. oops... I was debating what I wanted to do for running this upcoming year, I love the disney races- I have done the Walt DisneyWorld Marathon two times, disneyworld half marathon once, and the Disneyland half marathon 2 times. I was there for the inagural race in 06, it was so much fun that I set my personal record at that race, and I went for it again in 07. Since California feels like my second home I was thinking about doing the disneyland half marathon again in 2010, AND we have a baby to take to disneyland too! I couldn't decide whether or not to do this run, or if we should even take Avery who will be a little over 1 year old if we went. Registration fills up fast. Christmas morning came and I was opening a present from Brandon. It was a new pair of running shoes. Yay! And there was an envelope in the box with the shoes, I opened it and it was the registration confirmation to run the disneyland half marathon in 2010! He registered me because he knows how much I would enjoy it. I am so excited! Don't get me wrong I can't wait to run and to try to set another PR, but I am even more excited to share the fun and magic of disney with our little girl. I have so many precious memories of being there with my family as a kid, and into adulthood, I can't wait to see her reactions to all the fun!

On December 18 we left freezing cold Roosevelt to head to sunny Phoenix, AZ to spend Christmas with my family. It was 3 degrees when we left Roosevelt and when we got to Phoenix, it was about 72. Wow! We were hot! It was great weather the whole time, which was so awesome because we were able to go on walks with Avery in the stroller, I went running a lot, Brandon and I played tennis, and we weren't freezing all the time! We loved it. It was fun to be with my family, on Christmas Eve we get together with my aunt, uncle, and cousins to have dinner and do a little $5 gift exchange. It was a lot of fun, Christmas morning my brother and his wife, who is having a baby- due July 7! yay! came over to open gifts together. We got lots of meaningful things and Avery had fun opening all her new pj's and toys from her grandparents and uncles. Before we left for Phoenix, we had Christmas with Brandon's family. They got Avery this huge bouncer toy with lots of gadgets for her to play with- she loves it!!

In Phoenix, after we would put Avery to bed around 7:30, Brandon and I would go out for dates!! It was soooo fun! I miss those days of freedom and dates! :) Some things we did was- go out to desert ridge ( and outdoor mall and entertainment place) and watched a band and drank hot chocolate, went to movies- saw Avatar which was the best movie I have seen in a long time and got coldstone ice cream, went out for dinner, drove around to see Christmas lights and our old condo, hung out and my brothers new house....etc. It was so fun! Thanks mom and dad for staying home while Avery was in bed to babysit. We stayed 10 days, a great trip and a fun Christmas. Now we're back in Roosevelt in single digit temps planning where to go next to get outta here! :)

Santa and Mrs. Clause were at the grocery store today! Mommy, Daddy, and Grandma took me there to meet them. It was so wonderful! There were so many other babies and little kids waiting to see Santa. We waited for over 30 minutes. Finally it was my turn, mommy put me on his lap, I knew he could tell what I was thinking I wanted for my first Christmas even though I couldn't talk to him. I loved meeting Santa for the first time! Thanks mom and dad!!

Grandparent's Visit

My mom and dad came last week to visit us. We had a lot of fun, it was very cold for them- especially my mom. She had thermals on the whole time and would wear fur slippers around the house! Here Brandon and I are in our short sleeves, come on its only 30 out!?! haha We spent the week mostly at my house, we went over to this dinosaur museum one day and ate at cafe rio. My dad loved the museum! Brandon and another pharmacist from work took my dad pheasant hunting. That was a HUGE thing for my dad, he said it was a great time and even woke up in the middle of the night thinking about it and wanting to go again. My dad and I went running a lot together too. It is nice to run with him again, he started me in running when I was in 8th grade, I would run in the mountain preserve with him through high school and college too when I would have time. It was great to talk and run together. It was so fun to see them play with Avery and see how excited they got over everything she did! They were trying to help her roll over and showing her how to do it. They left yesterday and guess what Avy did all by herself?? Yep, she rolled all the way over onto her tummy! Thanks mom and dad for helping her! Wish they could have seen it!! We plan to go to Phoenix for 10 days over Christmas! I am so excited, Avery will be so much bigger and even smarter! What a great week!

Walmart Excursion

A couple weeks ago I went to walmart with Avery to grocery shop and get a few other things. Walmart is 28 miles away, so some planning is involved. 1- make sure to bring milk for Avy, warmed. 2- bring diaper bag with wipes. 3- bring front carrier pack because the car seat doesn't fit on top of the cart and if its in the cart then there is no room for groceries. 4- bring the list.

So my journey begins the SECOND after I feed her at home, I have to change her, make sure I'm ready and rush out the door. Otherwise I won't have time to take my time to shop before she needs to eat again- she still eats right on every 2 hours! I get to walmart and get on the front carrier pack and get her out of the car seat. She pooped so I have to change her before putting her in and getting the cart. So I change her in the bathroom and then put her in the pack, which she LOVES, and get the cart. I'm shopping around and mind you we have no groceries so I'm getting everything I see so I don't have to shop agian for a while. By the end the cart is soooo heavy and my back hurts from carry her on my front, I thought I had probably burned 1000 calories! After I check out I'm pushing everything to the car and unload it all into the back of my explorer with Avy still on me in the pack. For those of you who have worn them, its hard to bend over to pick something up, you have to do a squat. So I squat down to get the case of water and the plastic rips and it drops on the ground, so I have to get down again to pick it up and I'm sweating sooo bad! You THINK someone would help me load all my groceries in- as it looks like I have a family of 10 with all my stuff.

Once it all was unloaded, it was time to feed Avy before our 28 mile drive home. So I get her bottle and get in the car and feed her in the walmart parking lot. She ate well, was happy, and began the drive home. We got onto the main road and she starts crying. Oh great! I talk to her and shush her and the crying gets worse, almost into screaming. I absolutly can't stand her crying in the car, I feel bad and it stresses me out. So after trying lots of things I just started singing twinkle twinkle little star at the top of my lungs. It was so loud of a sing that my voice was cracking and everything. It worked though and she ended up falling asleep and I enjoyed my drive home. So tired!! And then I have to unload everything when I get home. ugh!

Avery is being so fun and she is getting so big! She enjoys going on walks in the stroller and playing with her daddy and mommy. Since she was like 2 months old she could stand up with me holding her waist or hands, she is so strong. She can even stand on her own just for a split second if I let go. She is smiling a ton and making lots of talking noises!! We love her sooo much!

Baby's 1st Boo!

It was Avery's first halloween, and yeah she is only 3 months old, but what the heck lets have fun anyway! Katie had bought Avery a lady bug halloween costume and it was sooooo cute! It fit her perfectly- except the hat, her head is only in the 25% We took her to the cornmaze and walked the maze with her, took some pictures. They also had a little petting zoo and little things for kids to do. Brandon and I took turns holding her as we went down this bumpy slide. I think she liked it! Avery didn't get much candy, she wasn't feeling good, and had a huge melt down at about 6:30 so we rushed her home, took her temp which was fine, gave her some tylenol, milk, and put her to bed. So much for a late night of halloween fun. Oh well. Brandon and I watched a movie together and ate some candy! It was a great day!

Brandon's Concert

On Saturday night Brandon and his band had their first concert. They did such a good job, I was so impressed at their talent. Brandon plays bass guitar, and really enjoys it. Some of the favorite songs they played were: song 3, small town, blue grass song. We had a lot of people show up- probably like 40-50. Now he wants to take a break for a little bit, but continue to write more of their own songs and keep up the practice! Good job baby!

We also want to mention how much we LOVE Avery! She is so fun now and keeps getting better every day!

What we've been doing....

Avery just had her first plane trip to phoenix last week! She did so well, she loved looking around and seeing a new environment. We got to the airport and through security smoothly, with all the baby stuff its kind of stressful. She was getting hungry and of course no liquid getting through, so we had to dump her formula. As soon as we got through she started crying, so I went to starbucks to get some hot water and Brandon went to get a bottle of cold water. She will only drink her milk if its warm so we had to mix the waters to the right temperature and mix her formula as shes crying, and we're sweating from hurrying and carrying all the bags! On the plane we just fed her and played with her, she did great!

We arrived at my parents house for a fun week ahead. One of the highlights of our trip was taking Avery in the swimming pool! The water was a little cool so for sure I thought she would cry and not like it, but I was wrong! We bounced her and splashed the water around her and she loved it. She just sat there like it was no different than being on our lap. It was so funny! Brandon would carry her in the front pack and we went to the mall-so many people would point and smile and say "oh look at the baby" and a lot of people stopped us to look and touch her. She got a lot of attention!

I went back to work a couple days, I enjoyed it, I don't think I've ever been really 'excited' to go to work. I missed everyone at the office and was looking forward to getting out of the house for a few hours. Plus Avy and daddy can have some quality time together. She has been sleeping better at night, most of the time she goes to bed around 8:30 and gets up at 3 or so to eat, then falls right back to sleep. We have been trying to get her bedtime to be earlier so Brandon and I can have some time in the evenings. She still doesn't sleep much during the day. I don't know why!! She'll be so sleepy and then I put her down and shes wide awake! Oh well as long as I can get some sleep and night thats great for now!

Avery's Baby Blessing

This past weekend was Avery's baby blessing. We had my family from AZ come for the weekend. My dad and my brothers were able to meet her for the first time. They were so excited! Jeff and Richie were constantly video recording and taking pictures of her. It was so fun to see my mom and dad as grandparents and my brothers as uncles. Wow how werid at the same time. Brandon's brother Ryan and his wife Christi also were here. On Sunday was Avy's blessing, it was so nice. Everyone got together afterward to have a nice lunch at Terry and Jeff's. Avy is doing well, we've learned that she has discovered she has found her voice and she will make the strangest noises and scream a lot! She seems a lot older than 6 weeks! She still has her bright blue eyes, I hope they stay blue- she looks so pretty. Her baths are still her favorite time of day, they calm her down for the night and she is starting to splash around more. Brandon and I are planning a trip to Phoenix at the end of the month, Avy wants to meet more of our friends and maybe go swimming!!

Brandon and I are having so much fun getting to know Avy and taking care of her and watching her grow! We are super tired though, but managing to get by. We actually haven't been doing much, just taking care of her. We had our first outing with her a couple weeks ago. One of Brandon's friends got married, so we went out to Salt Lake to go to the wedding. The next day we stopped in Park City to shop and have lunch on our way home. It went great, I was kind of stressing out about it because its hard to know how many diapers to bring, when and where to stop to feed her, etc. But it all worked out great and Avy had fun!! Brandon and I had fun too getting out of Roosevelt for a couple days and showing off our baby! Avy picked out a bunch of fall outfits for herself and they are sooo cute! :) My mom, dad, and brothers are coming to visit to meet little Avy next week and we are blessing her on Sunday. I can't wait for my dad and brothers to meet her.

Well we are getting used to our lives with our child. It is so different, but in a good way! We are amazed at how much Avy has changed since she was born. She does so many cute facial expressions and is starting to smile a little bit. Avy met her grandma this week, my mom flew out from Az to see us. It was a good visit and she will be back with my dad and brothers when we bless her on September 6. I've been getting little sleep-they're right when they say to nap when the baby naps! Its the only time, because we never know what the nighttime will bring! She is growing healthy and strong and we love her so much!

We have had a lot of fun with her here at home. Every picture we take is even cuter than the last... to us. She is 5 days old now and we are starting to get into a routine with her. It feels like we are learning what to do with her, but of course we haven't had any really hard nights yet. We love her so much that we can't even stand it. Becky always says how if she doesn't hold her for an hour she starts to miss her. It is wonderful to be parents!!!

Avery Rebecca Luke was born on July 24, 2009 at 10:24 pm. She was 7 lbs 9 oz and 19 1/2 inches long. She has beautiful blue eyes, dark hair, long skinny legs, and rediculously long toes. We went into the hospital at 11:00 am and had an easy labor with a difficult delivery. We are so excited to have her here and we are learning a little more eveyday. The first night in the hospital she was fussing and we couldn't figure our what to do with her. It finally dawned on us to check the diaper. WOW!! We catch on slowly but surely. There are more things like that all the time. We love her so much and we are pretty sure we have the cutest baby ever!!!

Here we are a year into our house and we have so much work left to do. The yard is coming along but we have a ton of weeds and even more grasshoppers. We have sprayed, mowed, and pulled and you can't even tell. We are also waiting patiently for baby avery to show up. Becky has had a few moments when we were sure the baby was coming, but alas, nothing came of it. We have everything ready and we just have to get her here now. Az Trip

So a few weeks ago we went down to Phoenix, I had my baby shower there. It was so much fun to have all my friends and family there. I loved it! Then I had another one here in Utah, so I have so much stuff I'm definately ready for Avery to be here! We swam a lot, went to a Diamondbacks game, went out for dinners, etc. It was good to be home. Here in Utah, Brandon and I have just been finishing getting Avy's room finished and keeping up with yard work. We now almost have a full yard of grass and flowers that have grown and its looking pretty good! Ryan and Christi are out for the weekend for the 4th. Brandon and Ryan went on a hike yesterday through Indian Canyon up some trails, 9000 feet elevation. Terry, Christi, and I made cookies and watched a movie.

We also have been working on our front yard-finally! We paid landscapers to do the leveling and sprinkler systems and curbing. Yesterday we planted 3 aspen trees and all sorts of different flowers around the trees. Those are on and island in the middle of the yard, and then planted some bushes and petunias all along the flower bed by the front door. AND also planted seed for grass to grow. I never knew what the big deal with peoples yards were until we have done one ourself! wow- lots of work, now I know why my dad would get so mad at us kids when we would run across the front yard and step on the flowers! haha

So yesterday we went to the hospital for our 3-d ultrasound to see our baby girl. It was amazing- the images were a little blurred but we were able to see her well. Usually just one side of her face. It was fun. Brandon's birthday was on the 28th, I got him the garmin nuvi gps system. Its really cool and has good features that are easy to use. We will use it to go to Phoenix in 2 weeks to find the fastest way! We typed it in and it said we could get there in 9 hours......weird considering in took us almost 14 to get to Roosevelt when we moved last year. I guess there is a new way to go.

The beginning

So here is our first attempt at a blog. We are enjoying some better weather here in Roosevelt (the wind hasn't been blowing for the last two days!). We are just living the life. We are working a lot on our house. We have a lot of projects going on right now. We are working on the nursery, the yard and the basement. We might have bitten off more than we can chew. We are hoping to have them all done by the end of the summer. It is an exciting time for us. The baby is coming and there is nothing we can do about it so we better get ready. We are celebrating our 2nd wedding aniversary on May 18. Can you believe it's been 2 years!
